"Light for Life"

An event to recognize the challenges of youth homelessness in the valley. Homeless youth in Alaska are at high risk for substance use, abuse and prostitution. The Mat-Su Coalition for Housing and Homelessness is sponsoring the "Light for Life" event Nov. 20, at Wasilla Lake Park from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There will be a candle lighting event with testimony and fellowship.

It’s Time to Talk to Your Kids!

The Partnership for a Drug Free America can help you start a conversation with your teens about drugs and alcohol or offer advice on what to do when you think your child may be using drugs or alcohol.

Rx Abuse Prevention Toolkit: From Awareness to Action

This toolkit provides strategies that coalitions can use for each of the seven steps to achieve community change, including templates, such as sample news releases and op-eds; and step-by-step guidance on how to hold a prescription drug take back program and educational events.

The toolkit also contains an Rx Abuse Fact Book that provides all of the key facts and statistics on prescription drug abuse. This piece can be reprinted and given out at local meetings and events for parents and other concerned citizens.
